It is Easter, 1970 in Big Sur. While I am training under Fritz Perls, M.D. in Big Sur, I spend time with the “mountain people” who live in secluded sites up and down the coast from Big Sur Hot Springs to Carmel Valley. It is a world filled with song and peyote buttons. The more public institute is Esalen which initiates seminars and research into transpersonal psychology and the early studies of altered states of consciousness.
