Emotionally Based Defenses
The emotional (or feeling) types, whose lead center is in the area of the heart, solar plexus, and diaphragm, mostly experience themselves and their lives in the context of relationship. Their solution to the dilemma of their childhoods was to create a false self, or pseudo self, behind which they could hide. They can also be described as image types, since maintaining the right image in the eyes of others is of central concern.
